Camp Nonesuch provides campers the opportunity to explore a wide range of activities in the arts, crafts, waterfront, performance, imagination, outdoors, and athletic areas.
Prior to the start of each session, campers, with parental guidance, select their own two week program (see the summer calendar for specific dates and times for activity sign up).
A wide variety of fun and challenging options are offered during our eight week season. Over the years activities have included...
Aerobic Dance, Archery, Baskets, Batik, Board Games, Bracelet Making, Camping Skills, Candles, Canoeing, Cartooning, Ceramics, Clay Animation, Collage, Computers, Creative Writing, Design Art, Drama, Dungeons and Dragons, Embroidery, Fishing, Football, Gimp, Jewelry, Kayaking, Lacrosse, Macrame, Masks, Mobiles, Models, Mosaics, Music, Nature Crafts, Nature Study, Nonesuch News, Painting, Papier-mache, Photography, Pillow Making, Poetry, Pond Life, Puppets, Quilling, Quilting, Rag Dolls, Ropes, Sailing, Sculpture, Showtunes, Singing, Soccer, Swimming, Team Sports, Tie Dye, Ultimate Disc, Volleyball, Watercolors, Woodworking and many more!
Please be aware that new activities are added and others retired from the program as the seasons pass. Offerings depend upon the unique strengths and talents of our outstanding staff.
With a very few exceptions activities are open to all campers subject only to interest and/or skill level (at this time, Kayaking is limited to campers who are ten years of age and can pass a camp administered swim test). Each activity meets daily during the session. There are seven activity blocks per day, five reserved for elected activities, one for lunch and finally a day ending seventh block with a choice of free swim, board games, arts & crafts, or our always popular game of the day. Campers choose their 7th block activity each day.
Safety is important to us so be assured that campers are supervised at all times.
Lunch and snacks are provided during the camp day, menus are posted.
Campers are assigned to a cabin based on their age and gender group. Supervised by a team of counselors, the camper's cabin serves as a home base for stowing personal belongings and changing during the day. To help nurture responsibility, campers are expected to take turns at simple camp duties during the day such as helping clean up at the end of an activity and helping to keep their cabin clean.
Special events during the camp season include our Camp Open House and Orientation on the Wednesday evening prior to the start of the first session, weekly theme days, overnights (one during the second and one during the fourth session, additional fees apply), and Family Nights at the end of each session when campers can share their accomplishments with family and friends!
